Harsh Realm : Comic
The television series Harsh Realm was based on a comic book. Published in 1994, the comic version of Harsh Realm was created by James Hudnall and Andrew Paquette and was distributed by Harris Comics.
Hudnall and Paquette's Harsh Realm was very different from the one seen onscreen.
Harsh Realm itself was a "pocket universe," a dimension created within our universe by computer, accessed by a portal. The pocket universes were open to the paying public, some of whom vacationed, and some of whom never returned. Harsh Realm is a fantastical land, filled with demons and magical creatures. It's also a game where power is attained by killing others.
Dexter Green, private investigator, was hired to find a teenager, Dan Crawford, who'd disappeared into Harsh Realm. Dexter goes into the realm himself, and finds that Crawford has attained a god-like status in the game, wreaking havoc and killing relentlessly.
Dexter is aided on his quest to find Dan Crawford by Moria, another "outsider," who has the power to work magic; War, a monk with the power to heal; and Kryn, a winged creature who doesn't say much. After facing many dangers and trials, Dexter faces Dan Crawford in the ultimate battle of good vs. evil.
